Patternmaking
During my sophomore year, I studied foundation principles and processes of apparel design utilizing flat pattern and drafting techniques. I gained experience in the development of master patterns, execution of advanced garment assembly processes, and communication of design plans using effective layout and presentation skills. Learning the interplay among aesthetics, function/fit, sustainability, and marketability of a garment allowed me to grow as a designer and strengthen my construction skills. Below are some patternmaking samples I completed using a half-scale bodice as well as garments I designed using patternmaking skills.
Blouse
This design consists of a v-neckline, flat collar, dartless sleeves, and center front button closure. Click the button below to view my research, design process, patterns, and each step in the construction of this blouse.
Skirt
This design consists of a full flare skirt with patch pockets, a facing style waistband, and an invisible zipper closure. Click the button below to view my research, design process, patterns, and each step in the construction of this skirt.

Draping
During my junior year, I had the opportunity to take a course that explored three dimensional methods of apparel design with a focus on design and execution of draped garment structures. Below are some draped samples I completed, along with 3 design projects made from draping techniques learned. These design projects required research of a design concept for a target market, consideration of sustainable design solutions, sketching, development of presentation boards, patternmaking, and construction of a complete garment.
